A Moldovan was arrested yesterday, April 3, for an attempt to transport a huge batch of cigarettes to Germany through an ingenious method.
The 36 years old man was driving a truck with two car platforms and a minibus. In their wheels, but also in the mini-glove compartment, several cigarette blocks were hidden.
The batch was discovered following the scan of the truck, which was to cross the Leuseni Crossing Point. It numbered 25,800 cigarettes of various brands, with an excise stamp of the Republic of Moldova.
Both of the batch of cigarettes and the set of vehicles in which tobacco products were detected were retained.
The man is also to pay a fine of up to 4,500 lei.
Also last night, without a vehicle there was a man who tried to leave the country with 7,000 undeclared cigarettes. Tobacco products were hidden in several hiding places in a truck.
