Competitions in memory of rescuers and firefighters dying on duty: It's irretrievable loss (VIDEO)
In the memory of rescuers and firefighters who died on duty, the Service for Emergency Situations organizes several competitions for three days. In the contest, over 600 employees will demonstrate how skilled they are in extreme situations.
Competitions are organized in Valea Morilor Park in Chisinau, and firefighters are not allowed to start if they are not properly equipped, including hoses, helmets and fire extinguishers. The rescuers have tested their strength and reaction speed.
"One of the tests is the obstacle course, which is 100 meters away, we have to cross a two-meter fence and a 12-meter beam. We have to go through the race as soon as possible and, most importantly, without injure, "said Sergei Kalasnicov, a firefighter.
In total, 17 teams from all over the country participate in the competition.
"It's more complicated during a fire, you have other shoes, other protective clothing and another helmet. The equipment is really heavy, "said a firefighter.
Over the last 24 years, nine firefighters fell down on duty.
In November last year, after a fierce fire at a warehouse on Uzinelor Street, the 36-year-old firefighter Ivan Nagailâc lost his life.
