Customs Services will take measures to increase security
Customs Services announced that CCTVs will be installed in all crossing points to increase safety.
"The modernization project includes installing new CCTVs and replacement of broken ones. The project includes all crossing points, as well as customs located near the border with Transnistria, Chisinau International Airport and Post Offices" mentions the statements.
New equipment will also be provided to the video surveillance section of the Integrity Surveillance Department, responsible for storing and examining the video surveillance.
The process also involves reviewing internal normative acts so that they contain provisions on the application of the centralized video monitoring mechanism.
"CCTVs will also be installed within the 48 storehouses of the Customs, that will then be interconnected with the video surveillance of the Customs Services. The decision was taken based on the risk factor, as the storehouse of Customs are holding goods worth over 1.2 billion lei. Without proper surveillance exists the risk that stored items will be sold without the duty being paid" wrote the statement.
"Those measures are meant to increase economic security of the state, ensuring elimination of both fraud and corruption" Customs Director General, Vitalie Vrabie explained.
