Danger in Leova, because of landslides
12 households from Leova town placed on the Prtu shore are in danger. Because of the landslides, people may lose their houses.
Diana Grecu says she lives with fear. A year ago, the toilet in the yard was swallowed by the earth.
"It is good my husband was not when the night broke down. I was telling him that you were not afraid to go to the rest of the world."
To strengthen the shoreline, several locals have planted hundreds of trees. Efforts were futile.
Earth began to move about two decades ago. In recent years, however, the problem has worsened. Now you need to construct a protective dike and the drainage complex. Only for these works are needed about 30 million lei, money that the local government does not have.
"We are looking for some sources," said Vitalie Gargaun, mayor of Leova. "We have to build a drainage complex that would allow the drainage of the springs.
There are ten thousand inhabitants in the city of Leova.
