Dialysis center visited by tourists. More and more foreigners prefer to be treated in Moldova
An Italian visited our country after he assured himself he could do dialysis procedures in modern conditions. The treatment has become possible for foreigners due to the establishment of "Holiday Dialysis" service in the Dialysis Center at the Republican Clinical Hospital.
Filippo Roberto is dependent on dialysis for six years. He came in Moldova for the first time after some friends invited him last week.
"I did dialysis in France. It's like here. I liked the friendliness of the staff, the way I was treated" , said Filippo Roberto.
Filippo Roberto decided to visit our country only after he was assured that he will receive quality treatment.
"Honestly, if I would have not found information about the dialysis center, I would have not risked coming" , added the patient.
In three months of the launch of "Holiday Dialysis" five foreigners receiving treatment in the Republican Hospital.
Patients originally from Italy, Germany, France and Romania, have between four and six dialysis procedures.
"Their condition is not serious. They are involved in programs for dialysis for five or ten years. There are patients on the waiting list for kidney transplantation" , said nephrologist, Liliana Calestru.
Foreign patients may be scheduled for dialysis procedures via the Internet, two weeks before arriving in the country.
"It is necessary to submit a request in which medical documents needed for further treatment are attached" , the nephrologist, Liliana Calestru.
Foreign patients pay at least 2,200 lei for a dialysis procedure.
