Fewer tourists resorted to Moldovan touring agencies in first half of year
The National Statistics Bureau reports that the tourism agencies and operators provided services to 86,900 tourists in the first half of this year, that’s 9,0% less year-on-year.
However, the number of Moldovan toruists deciding to travel about the country rose 2.1%, year-on-year.
Those 5,700 foreign tourists visiting Moldova in January-June 2016 through agencies are slit as follows: 69.3% came for leisure, 22.1% – for business and 3.9% – for curing.
Most of the foreign tourists came from Romania (18.4%), Ukraine (12.0%), Russia (11.0%), Germany (7.4%) and the U.S. (6.9%).
The agencies organized travels abroad for 64,700 Moldovan tourists, 10.9% less year on year. 98.9% left for leisure, mainly in Turkey (28.8%), Bulgaria (25.6%), Romania (19.5%), Greece (12.0%.)
