Director of boarding school and his accomplice to await trial on child trafficking
Director of boarding school in Chisinau and his accomplice will stand trial for child trafficking.
Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes has sent to the court the case indicating that the director traded with a businessman a child who was studying in his institution for sexual exploitation.
The director is suspected of repeatedly assaulting several students studying in his institution. Particularly, he illegally handed the businessman a 14-year-old minor who later lived in a rented apartment and sexually served the man.
In September 2017, the two were detained and the minor was rescued. The victim who came from socially vulnerable family, was offered with necessary social and psychological assistance.
If found guilty, they may be sentenced to 15 to 20 years in jail and deprived of the right to occupy certain positions or to practice certain activities for a period of 3 to 5 years or life imprisonment.
Currently, on the basis of several complaints, investigations are carried on regarding crimes of torture, mistreatment against pupils at that boarding school.
