Dodon failed to convince Russia's Gazprom not to raise gas tariff
Igor Dodon seems not to be sufficiently convincing while he paid a visit to Moscow. Dodon implied that he didn't manage to obtain a guarantee from Gazprom leadership not to raise tariff on natural gas delivered to Moldova. Igor Dodon will give it another chance and next time, he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"From the discussion with Russian government and Gazprom leadership, I consider that we have a chance to reach the understanding that they won't keep tariff unchanged", said Dodon.
On the other hand, Octavian Calmîc, one of the directors of National Agency for Energy Regulatory, there's not been request from Moldova Gaz to raise tariff.
"We haven't received any request, but we assume that the new leadership of Moldova Gaz will examine this", said Octavian Calmîc.
Gas tariff was reduced over 20% in March - 2018 following the request of former government led by Democrat Pavel Filip. In January 2020, the actual contract of our country with Russia's Gazprom will expire.
