Dozens of men with their families have celebrated the International Day of the Father at the Zimbru Stadium in the Capital. They enjoyed themselves and participated in various sports competitions.

35 fathers together with their children participated in the competitions. They ran, jumped and played with the ball.

"I come with my boys today. The smallest is watching us from the stands."

"I love my father very much!"

The mothers are also watching the events where their husbands and children are attending the competitions. 

"We're supporting them by applause. It's really important". 

The event was organized by UNICEF and the Moldovan Football Federation.

"Today's event is meant to emphasize that the father's role in educating the child is as important as the mother's involvement from the early moments of the baby," said UNICEF representative in Moldova, Margareta Tileva.

The International Day of the Father, traditionally marked on the third Sunday of June, is celebrated in over 90 countries.
