Drochia villagers keep their eyes open as "Surveillance Neighborhood" program expands
Neighbors will keep their eyes on potential thieves in the northern Moldovan village of Drochia. The Surveillance Neighborhood program is expanding. The Drochia Police, mayors and representatives of the Public Association "Eco-Rezeni" agreed on its implementation in 22 villages of Drochia district. The program aims to increase citizens' safety.
To make potential offenders, who intend to steal in the village, think twice, surveillance sectors and posters reading "Attention, supervised sector" will be installed.
Locals will have to monitor what their neighbors do and call the police in case they notice something suspicious. This program is implemented in Moldova the third consecutive year in 58 municipalities in different districts.
The Surveillance Neighborhood program is funded with 30,000 euros by the Government of Estonia.
