Edelweiss foundation supported renovation of a fountain in Meseni village
Big happiness for the citizens of Meseni village, Rezina district. The fountain from the village was renovated and now, people will have drinking water, after Vlad Plahotniuc and its foundation Edelweiss offered 200 000 lei within the competition ''Village of the future''.
Today, the fountain was officially inaugurated.
The citizens of the village said they were waiting to renovate the fountain for a long time, they are glad of its actual aspect.
''It is beautiful now. I hope we will have water in the fountain. We will take care of it, we will keep it clean.''
''It looks so good now, not as previously. Now, it is more beautiful in the village, due to it.''
According to the local authorities, at the beginning there were many projects to be implement in the village, but the one with the fountain was a priority, because it was in a terrible condition.
''There were many projects and the fountain was one of them. Also, we wanted to renovate the stadium and a playground . We gathered 680 signatures. Also, we contacted Diaspora who made an online list'', said Efim Mardari, the mayor of the Meseni village.
''This project is very important, as this is the place where the village started to be built. Also, all the fountains from the village connect here. We are very glad about Vlad Plahotniuc's support.'', said Eleonora Graur. the President of Rezina district.
The spokesmen of Edelweiss foundation say it is a priority for them to promote the national and traditional values.
''Vlad Plahotniuc's foundation, Edelweiss supports all the good initiatives of the people. The villagers of Meseni village participated at the project ''Village of the future''. They wanted to renovate the main fountain from the village. It is an old Moldovan tradition to take care of the fountains, it defines us as a nation. This is why we decided to help them'', said Lidia Cucos, executive director of ''Edelweiss'' foundation.
The project ''Village of the future'' was launched at the beginning of March. At the competition participated 42 projects and only five were selected.
