Emergency measures undertaken by authorities to help villagers from Iargara
Yesterday’s rain has made a lot of damage in Iargara village, Leova district. In only a few minutes the water streams have flooded over 30 households.
Also because of the heavy rain, one of the two lakes near the village is almost overflown. Moreover, there is a risk of the dams to give up under the pressure of the water.
People from Iargara have mobilized yesterday and fought against the water streams that flooded their homes and cellars.
Local authorities undertook emergency measures in order to help villagers evacuate all water from the households.
And the Emergency Situations Service employees have strengthened the dam of a lake in the village.
In order to avoid the danger of flooding, the dam of a lake with the surface of 10 hectares was strengthened with 3,000 sandbags. And from the lake nearby were pumped up 700 tons of water, so that the water level has dropped with 0.5 meters.
The local authorities have yet to establish the amount of damage. The village mayor affirms that he will do everything in his powers to provide financial help to all affected families.
