Yesterday’s rain has made a lot of damage in Iargara village, Leova district. In only a few minutes the water streams have flooded over 30 households. Also because of the heavy rain, one of the two lakes near the village is almost overflown.

People from Iargara have mobilized yesterday and fought against the water streams that flooded their homes and cellars. The villagers are afraid that the dams of all three lakes would give up.

33 policemen from the Leova police inspectorate have been mobilized to help to evacuate all water from the households.

Throughout the night, the firemen together with policemen worked on consolidating the dam for the prevention of an eventual damage, and also water pumping works from a lake.

The village mayor Eugeniu Mutaf affirms that after yesterday’s rain all affected families have requested help from local authorities. The administration of Iargara has yet to establish the amount of damage.
