Ambassador of EU to Moldova, Peter Michalko with Customs Head Vitalie Vrabie visited the Moldovan-Ukrainian border crossing point Palanca
The Ambassador of the European Union checked the working conditions of the employees and observed how they worked.
"The border crossing point was built under European standards which means people will benefit better conditions", said the EU ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.
"Working conditions are alright. It's no longer two stops to pass the customs. It's one stop now", said Nicolae Anton, customs inspector of the Republic of Moldova.
"There is no need for two stops to pass the customs control of Ukraine and Moldova," said Alexander Berlinschii, customs inspector Ukraine.
And drivers appreciate the changes:
"It's much easier, faster".
"We're really happy".
According to Customs Service chief Vitalie Vrabie, two other border crossing points will be upgraded soon.
At Palanca Customs Station there was also a special passage for travelers who want to cross the border on foot.
The new joint control post at Palanca was built under a project worth 6.18 million euros, of which 4.5 million were granted by the European Union, and 1, 68 million euro - by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
