Eugen Sturza, PPEM Vice-President, proposed as Defense Minister
Eugen Sturza, PPEM Vice-President, was proposed as Defense Minister. The announcement was made by PDM chairman Vlad Plahotniuc.
"We made the decision today that the Prime Minister should submit to the president the name of the person to lead Defense Ministry.
"I first had a list of 7 candidates, among them were 3 were female candidates.
"The person who has ability to modernize and manage the Ministry of Defense's policies is the vice-president of the European People's Party of Moldova, who previously worked in the Government Chancellery, which allowed him to qualify for the position." said Vlad Plahotniuc.
"We will propose the same candidate even if the candidacy is not accepted by the president.
"Regarding the possible reaction of the head of state, we already have a decision of the Constitutional Court in January 2017, which makes it very clear that the President is obliged to nominate a candidacy repeatedly, so dictates the constitutional norm of the country. And we are ready to take this process to the end, "Vlad Plahotniuc said.

PUBLIKA.MD reminds that Anatol Șalaru was dismissed from the position of Minister of Defense by President Igor Dodon.
Dodon accused Șalaru of chanting with NATO. Accordingly, Moldova, actually a neutral country, allowed US military equipment to be stationed in the Great National Assembly on Victory Day on Fascism, but also openly pleaded for Moldova's union with Romania.
