European Parliament endorses disbursement of assistance to Moldova
The European Parliament has okayed the allocation of 100 million euros as macro-financial assistance to Moldova.
575 MEPs voted "aye", 76 -- "nay", and 46 European Parliamentarians abstained.
The 100 million the EU plans to disburse to Moldova will be transferred in three stages till next year. 60 million represent a loan and 40 million are grants.
The money is offered to support the economic stabilization and structural reforms, contributing to cover Moldova’s needs of external funding in 2017-2018.
The European Commission and the European External Action Service will monitor the fulfilment of prerequisites by Moldova as the first installment will be disbursed depedning on the firts conclusions.
The required prerequisites imply observance of democracy, rule of law and human rights, fighting corruption, insuring transparency in managing public finances and strengthening institutional capacities.
