European Parliament rejected resolution to block EU financial aids to Moldova
The European Parliament refused to vote for a draft resolution calling for the blocking of macro-financial assistance for our country. The decision was taken on Monday with the vote of 170 MEPs.
The document was submitted last October by MEP Cristian Preda, who is part of the parliamentary group of the European People's Party. However, several MPs noted that the project is no longer actual and its reanimation could be related to the elections in Chisinau.
"Let us now refer to something which they are delighted with in the electoral campaign in Chisinau, it does not seem to me a good thing at all," said Knut Fleckenstein, MEP, Socialist Group.
In turn, Romanian MEP Maria Grapini described Cristian Preda's move as despicable and shameful and said she was extremely happy that his plan was defeated in the European Parliament.
She wrote on the Internet that Preda is now fighting with all its powers against Moldova, and it seems good that European lawmakers voted against it. Grapini added that she is ashamed of being a colleague with Cristian Preda.
The proposed resolution provided conditions for the macro-financial assistance of 100 million euros from the European Union to our country. Finance Minister Octavian Armaşu recently said that Moldova has met the 10 conditions imposed by the EU for the first installment of funds.
