Facing cold and working

Despite the strong frost and wind, many Moldovans have to work in plain air. It’s not a simple mission: for some it’s a duty, for others – the only way to gain their daily bread.
For vendors in bazaars working outside is something normal, though very difficult at the same time.
The police also have to work in cold, as do the carabineers who protect foreign embassies. Their shifts last four hours and then they can warm up in booths.
167 people have been brought for the last 24 h to the Emergency Hospital in Chisinau, 13 of them having frostbites.
14 people were taken to the Balti hospital: of which four fell on icy roads and one got hypothermia.
