Famed Moldovan wine maker to start exporting to Russia
Cricova, a famous Moldovan winery, is likely to start exporting 20 types of wines to Russia. The decision has been taken by Russia’s quality watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, after analyzing scores of samples.
According to Moldova’s Agriculture Ministry, 18 companies are entitled to export to the Russian market at present. Two of them a based in the Transnistrian area, nine – in the Gagauz Autonomy, and the rest of them -- in other Moldovan areas.
Russia’s food quality watchdogs repeatedly banned the import of Moldovan wines, the last time being in the fall of 2013.
Later, the embargo was scrapped but for several companies from the Transnistrian region.
The Moldovan wine makers incurred losses assessed at $20 mn and switched to other markets.
