According to official statistics, as many as 11,000 tourists visited Moldova in the first nine months of the year through specialized agencies.

Year-on-year, the figure is down 4%.

The number of Moldovans traveling abroad through agencies has also dropped. But they traveled more within the country instead.

Over 18 % of the foreign tourists came from Romania, 12 % from Russia and over 10 % --  from Germany.

Turkey is the favorite destination for 34 % of the Moldovan tourists, followed by Bulgaria and Greece.

190,000 people resorted to the services of Moldovan tourism agencies from January through September.
