Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated today at the commemoration events of the Holodomor victims, organized in Kiev, Ukraine. The Holodomor is considered a tragedy of the 20th century  - the famine was artificially organized by the Stalinist regime in the years 1932 - 1933.

At the international forum dedicated to the victims of the Holodomor, Pavel Filip mentioned that the deaths of millions of Ukrainians was caused by the policies of the Stalinist regime, which pursued the destruction of national consciousness and the instigation of fear.

"Today we are all obliged to remember the tragedies of the past, to appreciate the present and to look in the future. We in the Republic of Moldova understand the pain that you are suffering, because we have also experienced similar tragedies at the end 1940s of the last century - hundreds of thousands of people died at the time of organized hunger. These injuries are still open wounds, but they are our wounds and are part of what we are today, "said Pavel Filip.

At the same time, the prime minister stressed that our country remains with Ukraine and now, when our neighbors are facing new challenges related to the welfare and integrity of the country and its citizens.

"And today it is against our values, the dignity and the freedom of our countries. You know that in Chisinau you will always find a friend, because the big things are actually smaller things that we do together. our citizens to live in free and democratic countries", said the Prime Minister.

The solemn ceremony continued with the march in memory of the victims and the action "Take on a Light" , held at the Memorial Complex. This year, Ukraine marks  85 years from one of the most serious crimes - the Holodomor.

Leaders and officials from many countries around the world attended the commemoration events.
