First in Moldova Safety Alley opened in Leova (Photo)
Ştefan cel Mare market from Leova, considered to be the busiest spot, became the safest in the city. General Police Inspectorate has opened there a Safety Alley. People can receive there information on how to protect themselves against thieves and not become victims to any crimes.
The newly installed panels have attracted the people. Citizens of all ages stopped by to study them:
"I have already read them and saw much useful information for the children, for the people."
"This is a wake up call."
Leova is the first district from Moldova to gain a Safety Alley, but it is also the city where crime is decreasing.
"Those messages are meant to reduce crime" head of Leova Police Inspectorate, Andrei Sârbu explained.
The project will be extended in the whole country.
"I wish to say that we will not stop at Leova. During summer, such alleys will be opened in all districts, while we also set the aim to introduce them in rural areas as well" IGP chief, Alexandru Pânzari said.
The installation of the panels costs nearly 2 million lei, the money were offered by Leova City Hall.
