First ministerial official, detained in Moldova for illicit enrichment
The Anti-Corruption Center officers (CNA) have detained the first Moldovan state servant suspected of illicit enrichment.
He heads a department in the Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions.
The CNA officers have calculated that his and his wife's declared property is much smaller than it actually is.
The officers suspect him of influence peddling in holding auctions by the Regional Development Ministry.
In case of proven guilty the official may serve a term of up to 7 years in jail, will be fined and won't be allowed to hold public positions up to 15 years.
The official owns two plots of land in Călăraşi town and in Chişinău, two luxurious houses worth over 1,000,000 lei, a car worth over 600,000 de lei, and money in bank accounts: 295,000 lei and 18,000 lei.
