Three Moldovan businessmen – members of a criminal gang – have paid their overdue taxes and have avoided prison terms of up to 23 years.
They were arrested last fall for tax evasion and, up to now, have managed to gather and pour into the budget the due amount of 37 million lei ($2 mn).
The Chisinau court sentenced them to suspended five years, although they had risked up to 23 years of jail.
The prosecutors say they won’t sue the decision of the lower court.
