He killed his girlfriend and tried to commit suicide due to jealously. Nobody ever thought a 18-year-old teen could commit such a crime in Chisinau. 

According to Marcel Șaban, prosecutor from the Chisinau Prosecutor's Office, he stabbed his 16-year-old girlfriend with a kitchen knife after a quarrel and left her alone in the apartment for four days. 

The girl was initially reported missing by her sister. Law enforcement officers began investigating the case and questioned the teen's boyfriend. They were in relationship for more than a year.

His statements allegedly aroused some suspicion, so the police went to the apartment that the boy was renting. 

There they found the body of the girl, who had been allegedly killed four days ago. The girl's boyfriend told investigators that he later tried to commit suicide and even wrote a farewell note, but gave up on the plan. For now, the law enforcement officers do not provide more details about the young man.

The walls of the lobby of the block where the young man lived were stained with blood. Neighbors were shocked by what happened, but say they heard no noise.

The girl's boyfriend, suspected of murder, was detained for 72 hours, and during the hearings he admitted his guilt and regreted of committing such a crime. Prosecutors are seeking a 30-day arrest warrant on his behalf. If found guilty, the young man risks spending the rest of his life behind bars.
