GOOD NEWS! Calea Iesilor Street from Buiucani Sector is illuminated
The street of "Calea Iesilor" from Chisinau has a new modern lighting system. After renovation, more than 150 LED bulbs have been installed over a three kilometer length. The bulbs consumes for almost 50 percent less electricity, which will bring substantial savings to the City Hall's budget.
The works lasted for almost two weeks and the costs were for 2 million lei.
"What I wanted was to ensure maximum comfort and safety for people, because we have received complaints that they are afraid of going out on some street portions because there is no light. That's why for me one of the priorities were the modernization of lighting", said Ruslan Codreanu, the interim mayor of Chisinau.
People are satisfied and say they feel safe now.
"It was very dangerous. Even when I was learning in the evening for school, without anyone coming, I would not go around here".
"People were afraid, women, children".
People wants the "Alunelul" Park to be illuminated as well.
"We cannot stay until late time, but I come late from the job. We have to stay less with their children. They want us to stay more with them. They cry, but if there is no light..."
Ruslan Codreanu promised that the problem will be solved shortly.
"We continue to do what we said to the citizens and we will strive to achieve results within 3-4 months", said Ruslan Codreanu,
The project for the modernization of the street lighting networks included 10 streets from Chisinau, with a total length of 27 kilometers. The works will continue in the next period for the expansion of the network and in the courtyards of blocks in several sectors of the Capital. Over 14 million lei were allocated from the municipal budget to modernize the public lighting installations on the 10 streets.
