The expenses for some diagnostic and therapy services for children with autism will be covered, for the first time for Moldova, by the compulsory medical insurance policy.
A contract worth almost 500 thousand lei was signed between the National Medical Insurance Company and the Public Association "SOS Autism".
Thus, children with autism will benefit from internationally recognized diagnostic tests and therapies. The money will be allocated from the NHIC fund.
According to the spokesperson of the institution, Silvia Munteanu, the decision was made because more and more children in Moldova suffer from this neurobiological condition, and diagnostic services are quite expensive.
The Public Association "SOS Autism" was founded in 2008 by a group of parents of children with autism.
