The Government has approved today the laws on how meal tickets will be used. It clearly states the conditions for meal ticket usages for employees, employers, licensed operators and printing the tickets, the commercial points that will accept those tickets, as well as the fiscal aspect.

Therefore, the number of tickets offered to an employee must match the number of days they worked during the previous month. A meal ticket can be worth no less than 35 lei and they will be issued both paper and computer based. Those tickets cannot be traded and can only be used by the employee. It is also forbidden exchanging them for cash money.

The tickets are only meant to purchase food, except alcoholic drinks and nicotine products, while the shops offering to accept meal tickets have to announce at the entrance of this service.

The legal framework on the way meal tickets are managed was elaborated within the application of the Law on meal tickets, meant to motivate employees, rise their income, as well as create healthier eating habits.
