Gymnasium graduates choose to continue their studies in colleges or centers of excellence
Secondary schools became less attractive to young people. Gymnasium graduates choose to continue their studies in colleges or centers of excellence, while others prefer to study abroad. The Ministry of Education has published data on the distribution of students in schools for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Thus, 37-per-cent of the students choose high schools, with 2-per-cent less than last year. At the same time, 24-per-cent of young people choose a college or a center of excellence, compared to 22-per-cent in 2015 and over 21-per-cent will learn a trade at vocational schools.
At the same time, about 1,300 students will continue their studies abroad. From a total of 31 000 graduates this year, 812 have not passed the exams and received only a secondary course certificate.
