The famous Mimi Castle from Bulboaca village, Anenii Noi district, has opened its gates for the guests.
The building has a new look after being refurbished and now is ready for its guests.
Its manager Cristina Frolov has told the first visitors about its history: "In 1843, Constantin Mimi founded what was to become the most important winery of his time, which is now being inaugurated. The winery was visited by many important guests. In 1914, it was visited by Russia’s czar Nicholas, and in 1925 by Romania’s Charles the second."
Attending the event Parliament speaker Andrian Candu has said the castle is part of the nation’s heritage, which will make us renowned in the entire world: "This jewel is certainly a pearl of our national treasure. It will be an attracting point for all those eager to discover the country, the places, the customs, the people, and will want to taste our wine."
" Moldova has lots of heritage monuments. Cristina Frolov may serve as a good source of inspiration to make valuable the beautiful places, so that this country should become famous for its beauty," Culture Minister Monica Babuc said.
"It was much harder six years ago. It will be even harder in the future in order to maintain, to develop and to spread the fame of quality of the product, of tourism," said Agriculture Minister Eduard Grama.
