Head of EU Delegation: Trilateral dialogue on Moldova-EU Association Agreement EXCLUDED

The Head of EU Delegation in Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola, ruled out the possibility of a trilateral dialogue Brussels-Chisinau-Moscow on the issue of the Moldova-EU Association AgreemenT, as the Moldovan President Igor Dodon whished, IPN reports.
"We have bilateral relations with the Republic of Moldova and we are ready to discuss further in this format" , the European diplomat said on March 6th.
The EU Association Agreement is not an impediment for Moldova to return to the Russian Market, according to Pirkka Tapiola.
"The Association Agreement does not affect the independence of Moldova. We welcome the resumption of imports to the Russian market. Moldova has the right to sign agreements of cooperation with any country, including within the CIS. It's false that European goods would flood the Russian market. European goods are known and will not be given to other goods. I do not understand why European fruits should be exported to the Russian market, giving that Moldovan produces such fruits. In this case, it's a fraud" , said Tapiola.
At the same time, the European official emphasized the importance of maintaining this agreement for Moldova, given that "Moldova is a very small market for the EU."
The EU Head of Mission in Chisinau said he does not support the themes of geopolitical disputes between government representatives and leaders of Chisinau.
"The EU was created to avoid geopolitical confrontation. We are interested in quality of reforms. These confrontations distract from reforms and interests of citizens" , said Tapiola.
After meeting with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, in early February in Brussels, Igor Dodon said he proposed the launch of trilateral negotiations between the EU, Moldova and the Russian Federation, negotiations to be vital, in his opinion, for restoration of relations between Chisinau and Moscow.
