Health workers and social workers who have chronic diseases granted leave with pay
Health workers and social workers who are retired or suffer from chronic diseases will not have to work during the period of emergency but still receive salaries. The decision concerns only employees from institutions subordinated to the municipality.
The announcement was made by Tatiana Bucearschi, the head of the General Directorate of social assistance and health. The measure was taken to protect employees from being infected with the novel coronavirus.
Meanwhile, health workers and social workers in the institutions subordinated to the municipality are working according to a modified program.
"Health workers who turn 63 and persons with chronic diseases were granted leave according to the legislation in force to minimize the risk of being exposed to COVID-19 infection", Tatiana Bucearschi said.
Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban also came up with a proposal that the 2020 budget, allocated to the repair of medical institutions, will be spent to equip hospitals with the necessary materials to combat COVID-19.
Tatiana Bucearschi also mentioned that more volunteers are helping elderly people, people with disabilities and families with multiple children. They offer them food and medicine. Those who need help should call 0800-00080 or 0800-00090
