Hepatitis outbreak in Leova district, 12 children hospitalized
Hepatitis outbreak in Leova district. 12 children from Filipeni village were taken to the hospital after they were diagnosed with Hepatitis A. The information was confirmed by chief of local Health Center, Diana Ostafii. Patients are aged between 4 and 17 years old.
"The children are being kept in the infectious disease ward, their state being stable at the moment. The families were informed" chief of local Health Center, Diana Ostafii said.
Diana Ostafii declared that since September 2017 and to this moment 64 cases took place in the settlement. 38 pupils and 9 young children were diagnosed with this virus. 18 cases being registered since the beginning of this year.
So far authorities have not placed the village under quarantine. Hepatitis A is an infectious disease of the liver. The virus is transmitted through ingestion of contaminated food and water and is common among children.
