HoReCa employees rallied to demand immediate lifting of coronavirus restrictions on economic activity
Dozens of HoReCa employees and several vendors working in the Central Market protested for over an hour in front of the Government Headquarter, demanding an immediate lifting of restrictions on economic activity. People say they have no money to support their families and cannot pay their loans.
"Give us the opportunity to work, we can't survive without money. We're tired of staying home."
"You don't understand what it means to live without working. Budget-paid employees don't understand what it means to wake up in the morning and have nothing to feed your family."
"We want to work, we will follow all epidemiological rules".
No representative of the government appeared in front of the protesters.
Contacted by phone, Prime Minister's adviser Vitalie Dragancea said those in the HoReCa field and traders will resume their activity earlier only if the number of COVID-19 patients decreases.
"When there appear protests, the government considers resuming multi-dimensional activities in a safe manner. A decision was taken, this decision can be probably influenced by the positive evolution of coronavirus".
The Central Market in Chisinau was closed in mid-March while the activity of restaurants, cafes and other businesses in the HoReCa field was also suspended.
