How to celebrate Easter during pandemic? Announcement by President Igor Dodon and Metropolitan Vladimir
Palm Sunday of Holy Week will be celebrated without parishioners and the Radonitsa will be put off until June, his Holiness Metropolitan Vladimir, Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova, has announced after the meeting of the Synod of the Moldovan Orthodox Church of Moldova.
Services dedicated to Easter can be watched remotely, on TV or on the Internet. The public television and radio station in Moldova will broadcast live the the Resurrection service and the private television stations will take over, so that more parishioners can watch and pray from home.
It remains unclear how Easter bread, red eggs and other dishes will be placed on the table. The Metropolis will issue a statement in this regard.
The Radonitsa will be marked at the beginning of June, Metropolitan Vladimir said.
"It's postponed until 6,7,8 June this year".
Attending the meeting of the Synod of the Orthodox Church, President Igor Dodon announced that the Holy Fire will be brought from Jerusalem and distributed to the dioceses within the Metropolitan Church.
"We have already discussed with some Christians, businessmen and we will do our best to bring the Holy Fire this year to Chisinau, "said Igor Dodon.
According to the latest survey conducted by IMAS, over 80 percent of respondents agree with the ban on church services during the coronavirus pandemic. Easter is celebrated this year on April 19.
