IGP started Careful Grandparents project. Retired will take care of children near crosswalks
The General Police inspectorate started the "Careful grandparents" project, due to which the retired will be helped to cross the roads near the schools. The old met at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace from Chisinau.
Grigore Vieru from Anenii Noi says that daily, besides the three nephews that he has he also goes with 15 children from the neighborhood.
"I have a very friendly neighborhood and everybody calls me Grandfather."
Totally, 800 old from many districts participate at the program.
"I should help the young to cross the streets when they go to school or when they return back home."
"The live gets better when you help the young or when they help you."
According to IGP information, in 2017, 13 minors died and 336 were injured after the road accidents.
"This project is base on two great ideas: one is about care and the other one is about implication", mentioned Alexandru Panzari, IGP chief.
"We talk about the children of I and Vth grades, as they are the most vulnerable. At the same time, these children will be careful", said Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, IGP chief.
"I am very glad that the old persons are involved in this project. They won't stay home anymore, but they will go in the streets and take care about our children", said Eugeniu Nichiforciuc, PD deputy.
Andrian Candu, the President of the Parliament declared that he found our about this project from his eight years old son.
"He is very enthusiastic and told me about some grandparents who help him. This impressed me and I consider it will be great to implement this project", said Andrian Candu.
The "Careful grandparents" project was taken by IGP chief from their colleagues from Italy and will be also implemented in many other countries.
