Ilan Şor, convicted of scam and money laundering, visits European Parliament
While European dignitaries criticize Moldova for slow progress in investigating the devaluation of the banking system, Orhei Mayor Ilan Shor, convicted of scam and money laundering, met with several MEPs and EU Commissioners in Strasbourg.
He complained that he was being abused in the investigated files.
Also, those who participated in the meeting discussed the social-political situation in Moldova, as well as the development projects of Orhei.
According to the tribuna.md portal, the court allowed Ilan Şor to leave the country, after the lawyers presented the magistrates with an invitation signed by 27 MEPs, requesting a meeting with him at the European Parliament.
Orhei Mayor, Ilan Şor, was sentenced to seven years and six months of jail.
He was accused of scamming and money laundering in one of the bank fraud cases at BEM, the Social Bank and Unibank.
