Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) experts led by Ben Kelmanson today.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister referred to the main reforms of the Government in the field of business, justice and social affairs.

The head of the Executive said that measures to improve the business environment are underway, and these efforts will continue. Particular attention has been paid to the reform of the public administration which has been further advanced.

Education, road infrastructure were among the priorities of the Government in the medium and long term. 

Pavel Filip mentioned that the Government expects IMF support and assistance in implementing major reforms.

IMF team chief Ben Kelmanson noted that progress has been made in some sectors, and these efforts need to be continued. In this context, the situation in the financial, budgetary, fiscal and energy sectors will be examined.

At the same time, the official said the purpose of the current mission is to find out the short-term economic developments and the long-term prospects and to review the fulfillment of the authorities' commitments under the program with the IMF. The results of the evaluation will be set out in the final report.

The mission of IMF experts is on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova from 25 October to 7 November 2017.

The three-year program of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, endorsed by the IMF, was approved on 7 November 2016. It is funded through a total credit of approximately $ 182 million, of which 59 million has already been disbursed.
