Implementation of Export Improvement program will promote image of our country abroad
Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, chaired the meeting of the Budget Management Board for the implementation of the Export Promotion Program, today. Within this framework, the Moldovan Export and Investment Promotion Organization (MIEPO) presented the Activity Report for the first quarter of this year.
Analyzing MIEPO's activity during the first three months, Chiril Gaburici mentioned that the institution managed to contribute to the development of investment projects on the territory of the country and to the increase the number of indigenous companies that participated at international events and exhibitions, as well as to the growth and promotion of exports.
"The achievement of the indicators stipulated in the Export Promotion Program by MIEPO contributes efficiently to the economic development of the Republic of Moldova. Its objectives are set in accordance with the priorities of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and the promotion of the image of the country and the strengthening of the competitiveness of the local companies will contribute to the creation and attracting new investments in our country, "the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure said.
According to the report presented by the director of MIEPO, Vitalie Zaharia, during the first three months of 2018, the institution organized 19 events with a country stand at international exhibitions, seven study visits in the Republic of Moldova, potential investors, as well as participation of the domestic companies at four economic and tourism forums - Turkey, Russia, Romania and Greece.
Also, about 2 thousand foreign companies were informed about the investment opportunities in our country, and signed 120 new contracts, and another 83 contracts are being negotiated.
For the next period three major events are planned, including the Moldovan-emirate Economic Forum, scheduled for May 9-10, and "Moldova Automotive Days 2018", May 29-30. A cross-border project for the development of the agro-industrial sector will also be carried out, for which MIEPO has won a project funded by the Black Sea Program 2014-2020, amounting to about 650,000 euros over a two-year period.
