Important day for Republic of Moldova! United Nations will debate today the draft resolution submitted by Republic of Moldova and another seven states regarding the withdrawal of the Russian Army from Moldova's territory. The document requests Moscow to end this process as quickly and unconditionally as possible.
Along with Republic of Moldova, the draft resolution was signed by Romania, Ukraine, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Canada. The text of the draft resolution includes the commitments made by Russia at the OSCE Summit in Istanbul from 1999, regarding the withdrawal of the weapons and troops located in Transnistria.
According to the constitution, Republic of Moldova proclaimed itself neutral, while foreign troops are forbidden in the country's territory. The countries who signed the draft reaffirm the need of UN member states to respect the territorial sovereignty and integrity of other states, to not threaten or use force against another member state.
