International search warrant issued on Vlad Plahotniuc
An international search warrant has been issued on the former President of Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc by the the National Anticorruption Center.
This comes after the judges issued a 30-day arrest warrant on Vlad Plahotniuc. The former president of the Democratic Party is accused of money laundering in particularly large proportions.
Asked by Publika, lawyer Vladislav Roşca said he didn't hear of this warrant.
According to the CNA representatives, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office requested the search service to announce the international search on Plahotniuc. The request was received on October 17 and then CNA transmitted it to General Police Inspectorate, the Interpol office. Whether Interpol accepted the request or not, for now, we could not find out.
The lawyers said Vlad Plahotniuc denied the wrongdoing and qualified the prosecutors'actions as a political outcry from the current government. Russia would have intervened in this action, he said.
The magistrates' decision will be challenged in the higher court. According to the lawyer, there is no evidence that would prove Vlad Plahotniuc's guilt.
