Iron Man of Moldova. A border police officer ventured into one of the most challenging sports competitions
A border policeman ventured into one of the most challenging sports competitions in the world and was enrolled in the "Ironmen" list. This is Dorin Alexei, who participated in the Iron Man triathlon in Barcelorna, Spain. The competition has challenged not only physical training, but also mental health.
Dorin Alexei is 46 years old and is the chief commissioner of the Border Police at Chisinau International Airport. Two years ago, alongside his best friend, Igor Bondarciuc, who participated in the competition with him, decided to test physical capabilities.
"We train your training, then your will, especially the psychic will. We practice long distances to test our body, to see where we are, because 180 km per bike is not easy," said Dorin Alexei, participant "Iron Man 2018".
The biggest challenge at the "Iron Man 2018" competition was in Barcelona.
"Barcelona met us a little furious, because the sea was waves, it was a bit more difficult. Two kilometers and some waves ahead that exhausted us and disoriented us, when the big waves do not really see indicators", said Dorin Alexei.
"IRON MAN" is the most complete and challenging triathlon test involving 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42 km of running.
"It swims 3800 meters in open sea water, then follows cycling and finishes with a marathon of 42 kilometers, totaling 16 hours, totaling 11 hours and 33 minutes. For Moldova it is not a bad result, it is a good result", said the border policeman.
During the training and during the competition, the family was the main supporter: "It helped me a lot when I was in the third stage, on the run, already when the powers leave you, but the fact that you think that your family is near the finisher , two sons waiting for you give you a bit of courage".
"Iron Man 2018" was held on October 7 in Barcelona. Over 3,500 participants enrolled in the competition."
