Iurie Leancă: EU advocates for accelerating reforms in Moldova to benefit citizens
One of the most principle messages drawn up by the EU External Affair Council is EU's commitment to strengthen political association in the economic integration of Moldova, declares Iurie Leancă in a today briefing.
"First, the European Union through this Council approved conclusions on the Moldova's situation. We appreciate this as positive step. Moreover, the European Union considers its relationship with Moldova to be important. Our government will note and further these conclusions.
I would like to mention that, from our point of view, these conclusions are comprehensive, balanced and are a realistic analysis of the evolution of our country.
Additionally, these conclusions outline the key priorities that the EU is focusing on in dialogue with Moldova.
The essence of these conclusions lies in the fact that the EU reaffirms its support and its pledge to continue supporting Moldova in modernizing the country on its European path.
Moreover, the EU also exposes its high expectations in its relation as well as the Moldovan citizens. The conclusions are addressed not only to the Moldova's authorities but also the political classes and citizens.
The conclusions contain messages on policy principles, but also positions on key areas, both of them we have to take into consideration.
The main message is that the EU reaffirms its commitment to strengthen political association in the economic integration of the country and to work in a very close partnership on the basis of the Association Code.Another important message is that the EU recognizes Moldova has initiated and succeeded in implementing reforms in key areas.
The EU supports and advocates acceleration of reforms in Moldova to benefit the citizens, " said Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Iurie Leanca.
