Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Iurie Leancă, paid a working visit to Germany during April 17-19. 

The Deputy Prime Minister met with several German officials such as German Prime Minister Stephan Steinlein in Berlin; State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Niels Annen; Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation, Maria Flachsbart; Bundestag deputy, responsible for the foreign policy of the Bundestag Christian Democrat / Christian-Social Faction, Juergen Hardt; Bundestag deputy in charge of foreign policy of the Bundestag Social Democrats, Nils Schmid; Bundestag deputy, member of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee, parliamentary rapporteur for the Republic of Moldova, Nikolas Loebel; First Deputy Federal Security Officer Angela Merkel, Joachim Bertele, Ambassador for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia to the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andreas Peschke and the Political Director of the Federal Ministry of Defense, Geza Andreas von Geyr.

The main topics discussed with the German officials focused on the Moldovan-German political and socio-economic relations, the problems and challenges of regional security, the current state of Moldovan-EU relations and the European future of Moldova.

During the meetings, Iurie Leancă thanked the German side for the political and economic support offered to Moldova, citing the need to maintain and expand it.

He also emphasized the importance of increasing German political support to bring our country closer to the European Union, as well as providing a clear European perspective for Moldova.

In turn, the German interlocutors welcomed the reforms undertaken by the Chisinau Executive, insisting on their continuation and the holding of free and fair elections in the autumn of 2018.
