Journalists from Moldova organized a rally on World Press Freedom Day
They asked the independence of the press and the transparency of the decisions taken by the authorities. Many journalists and ONG representatives organized a rally on the World Press Freedom Day. The event took place in front of the Parliament and then near the State Residency, the Government building and the one of the Audiovisual Council.
"The press is not a puppet.!"
The participants at the event asked the press to be more solitary.
"Nowadays, the solidarity between the journalists doesn't exits. They should broadcast real news, that are equilibrated and the news that don't manipulate."
"The should show solidarity when they ask for an information and don't receive it and when the journalists are censored."
The participants at the rally asked the deputies to make faster the process of adopting the laws regarding the press. One of the projects that was recently voted in the first reading is the Code of the Audiovisual
"There are many other laws that will be adopted and implemented, the journalists who are interested in investigations will benefit of access to the information of any kind", said Nadine Gogu, the director of the Center for Independent Journalism.
Even if it is not a political event, many politicians and journalists who belong to the parties participated too. Among the participants there was Viorel Cibotaru, the president of PLDM and Ion Terguta, the spokesman of the party.
The World Press Day is celebrated since 1993, based on a decision that belongs to the General Meeting of ONU, that was proposed at the General Conference of UNESCO.
