Law enforcement better trained to investigate human trafficking
Law enforcement specialized in combating human trafficking from Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia have met within a workshop dedicated to Difficulties Encountered in Investigating Human Trafficking in Eastern Europe.
The event was organized by the International Organization for Migration from the Republic of Moldova, within the implementation of the Regional Project to Combat Human Trafficking, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
Head of IGP, Alexandru Pînzari, mentioned: "Regardless of the efforts each of us makes to combat human trafficking, we cannot speak of consistent results, except when we work together, key solution being cooperation. I am sure that by exchanging information and experience, new procedures and practices during such meetings, we will contribute to enhancing the safety of our citizens."
The workshop aimed to consolidate the professional abilities of specialists in the area of combating human trafficking based on sharing the best practices to prevent, protect, investigate, punish, as well a coordinate policies at international standards.
At the same time, participants have shared their experience in the field, including at the chapter of diminishing the phenomenon of human trafficking. Here, special attention was cast upon the new methods human trafficking victims are recruited and investigating the crimes committed online, especially by using informational technologies.
