A lawyer from Chisinau has been detained for influence peddling. According to the National Anti-Corruption Centre, the suspect asked the mother of a prisoner from 1,500 euros to get him out of prison.

The lawyer would have told the woman she could influence Prosecutors' Office employees from the Rascani sector Court in order for them to release him from prison.

He was sentenced to four years in prison for hooliganism. The victim took it to NACC, and the lawyer was handcuffed while receiving the latest installment of 600 euros.

If found guilty, the suspect risks a fine of up to 200,000 lei to six years in prison.
