Littering in Moldova will be punished by law
Mayors will be able to fine people who litter in villages or cities. Commission on human rights and inter-ethnic relations announced during today's session the law suggested by a group of deputies, who wish to change the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the project, police officers, environmental inspectors and representatives of local public administration will control the issue.
Therefore, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Heads and Deputy Heads of subdivisions of specialized administration, specialists in the field and those appointed by Mayors will have the right to establish fitting punishments and manage cases.
Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova foresees various sanctions for people littering in both urban and rural areas.
Natural persons will be fined to 1 800 lei, or perform unpaid community service, while legal persons will be fined to 9 000 lei.
