Many non-governmental institutions request revision of anti-smoking law
A month after enforcement of the anti-smoking law, representatives of many non-governmental organizations request the revision of the document. They request from authorities the institution of a moratorium for another month over the fines for smoking in prohibited places and insist on the removal from the law of the paragraph regarding the prohibition to smoke near institutions.
The law regarding the tobacco control has been enforced on 31 May 2016. According to the document, smoking is prohibited at the workplace, in pubs and restaurants, and in open public spaces of hospitals and education institutions. Also it is not allowed to smoke in markets, public transport, bus stations and playgrounds. Smoking is allowed only in places especially set in open air, placed on at least 10 meters distance from entrance to pubs and institutions. People who will break the law will have to pay a fine of over 1,000 lei.
