Member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will use Republic of Moldova's experience on gender equality as an example
Republic of Moldova is a good example for the member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on bringing into force laws on gender equality, while Moldova's experience will be presented to the member states. The declarations were made by Secretary General of Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong, who is paying a visit to Republic of Moldova, during the meeting with chief of Moldova's delegation at Inter-Parliamentary Union, Zinaida Greceanîi and members of the delegation.
Zinaida Greceanîi suggested for the next meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union to be held in Republic of Moldova.
"It is for the first time when the Secretary General of Inter-Parliamentary Union is visiting Moldova, which is an honor for us. This visit will strengthen our relations, Republic of Moldova's activity within the Inter-Parliamentary Union and will offer new opportunities to develop Republic of Moldova" Zinaida Greceanâi said.
In his turn, Martin Chungong reiterated Inter-Parliamentary Union's support in consolidating the institutional capabilities of the Moldovan Parliament, inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation. Martin Chungong encouraged the deputies to identify what ties them and follow an agenda for development, that will benefit all citizens of Republic of Moldova.
Within the meeting were discussed aspects regarding the Parliament's actions in terms of completing terms for sustainable development, the activity of the Joint Dialogue Platform of Deputy Ladies of the Moldovan Parliament, the technical support offered by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, as well as the 2030 Agenda.
Secretary General of Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong has also spoken with Deputy President of the Parliament, Valeriu Ghilețchi, President of the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee, Violeta Ivanov, Presdient of the Committee on Human Rights and Inter-Ethnic Relations, Vladimir Țurcanu, President of the Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance, Ștefan Creangă.
Secretary General of Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong will be visiting Republic of Moldova between 2-5 June, 2018.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union ensures that parliamentarians are involved in global decisions of UN. The Union was created in 1889 and has 178 member states, as well as 12 members with the associate status. Republic of Moldova became member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in 1992.
